| Job Description |
| The primary function of the Category Specialist is to assist assigned Category Manager in the strategic and tactical development and overall management of assigned categories, as well as the categories’ day-to-day performance and overall direction.

| Job Responsibilities |
| - Assist in developing category business plans as required for each assigned categories.
- Coordinate timely and appropriate communications with vendors on behalf of the company.
- Research data relevant to the success of assigned categories.
- Support Category Manager in developing strategies and tactics for each assigned category based on current performance, industry trends and company philosophies.
- Evaluate and develop priorities and initiatives for each of the assigned categories as it relates to current trends and overall impact to the company as directed.
- Assist in reviewing, evaluating and assessing category retail sales, gross profit and gross profit % regularly versus plan, same store and other performance tracking or comparisons as necessary.
- Manage product supply and supplier relationship accordingly for each of assigned categories as directed.
- Provide support with negotiations, item assortment, product pricing, merchandising, promotions, terms and any other initiative as necessary with the appropriate suppliers.
- Select product assortment and analysis regularly in conjunction with Category Manager.
- Assist with developing product promotions to enhance revenue and gross profit.
- Aid Category Manager with pricing product according to guidelines and competitive environment.
- Develop and implement merchandising initiatives based on developed standards and/or current practices as directed.
- Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining appropriate plan-o-grams for each assigned category.
- Ensure proper setup of supplier and product through legal, accounting and pricebook as instructed.
- Provide support with the management of point of purchase as it relates to assigned categories, products and promotions.
- Assist with other various duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university)
Experience :
No prior experience necessary
Computer Skills:
Must have proficient computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office.
Other Requirements:
Retail knowledge and experience preferred.
Strong sense of urgency, work ethic and positive attitude
