Job Description

Manages a grouping of product categories as strategic business units integrating the functions of planning, merchandising, buying and promoting. Responsible for overall category performance to include sales performance, profitability/gross margin, and inventory turns.

Job Responsibilities

• Manages product mix relating to variety, selection and quality; • Develops product presentation and plan-o-gram; • Optimizes space allocation utilizing fact based decision process; • Develops promotional calendars and products with specific key performance objectives and guidelines; • Ensures Sales and Margin objectives, Inventory levels/turns and Introduction of new, innovative products are maintained for assigned category grouping; • Develops customer beneficial programs in conjunction with vendors; • Monitors/analyzes all products and vendors for profitability; • Coordinates with field personnel and store managers for program implementations and measuring/meeting their needs; • Negotiates with vendors for markdowns and co-op/rebate funding; • Investigates and coordinates Petro proprietary product line; • Travels marketing areas to develop new products and conduct competitive comparisons; • Develops and assists in training store personnel; • Tracks promotional results and reacts accordingly; • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requisites (Education/Experience)

• Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills. • Demonstrates effective analytical and organizational capabilities. • Ability to interact with all levels of management, customers and peers. • Effective project management skills. • Possesses proficient Microsoft Office, Outlook and related merchandising systems capabilities. • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. • Exhibits a high degree of professionalism Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising or Business plus one to two years related experience and/or training.
